I'm having the same problem as you. No one replied to you. Did you solve it? I'm trying to re-install 2012 on a machine that I just put a new HD and OS in.

I'm going to try downloading from Microsoft directly and install: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21254

Welcome to the community, abe.

That should work out for you.

Your product is failing to install because the prerequiste program required by the installer is failing prior to the installation of your Autodesk software.

If the prerequisite program already exists on your computer, it is likely newer than the one the Autodesk installer is attempting to install. Please uninstall the prerequisite program causing the issue and run your installer again.

For more information about this process, please see my KB link here:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Some-Products-Fail-to-Install-Result-1603/td-p/...

The prerequisite is not already installed and installation still fails, then you may need to make an advanced edit to the setup.ini file to ignore the error. Please make sure you manually install the prerequisite file from Microsoft and then modify the setup.ini file accordingly.

For more information on this process, please see my KB article here:

I do have the same problem but manage to solve it in a very2 looonnggg process. first of all u need to check on Viruses and Malware located in ur PC. this will block certain updates in the Windows which put ur PC in old / outdated windows update.. remove all the viruses / malware...I hope ur with me with this kind of explaination......

2nd u need to update ur windows expecially the Visual C++. from this point on i hope u will manage to install the software and if...... it is still the same, u need to explore ur Command promp function in Windows.

3rd, U type in CMD in the search function in the start up button and right click on it.. RUN AS ADMIN and click ok.use the command chkdsk /r /f

I ended up installing Revit but NOT the DWG Review. That did solve my problem but I don't have DWG review either.
