Revit 2012 stuck in viewer mode - cant licence

Hi - I have been rying to install Revit 2012.  I enter my serial number & product ID, go thru the installation process.  Start Revit & it is in viewer mode. I cant get to the licence stage - in other words I cant get out of viewer mode to go thru the steps of licencing the product. I let a trial version lapse - but have since got a home licence from my employer.  I have tried all suggestions that I could find from going to the start menu to select Revit A, to following the steps of removing all autodesk products from the system - going thru the regedit etc. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2887771&linkID=9240617

Any thoughts - apart from re-installing windows?

I assume you have a stand-alone activation?  Can you not activate the product once it is launched?

Spoiler

Yes I have a stand alone licence.  I re-installed windows - a repair from the control panel.

No further issues - installed OK.

Could you describe the steps you took ?

I'm on WIndows7. WHen you say you re-intalled windows does that mean you reformated?

Thanks
