Revit 2011 Error 1603

Like many others, I too have been receiving the 1603 error when installing Revit 2011.

When I initially downloaded the program from the site I went all the way through the process until I was able to access the start page with options for a new project or accessing families, etc.

The next time I went on my computer I was unable to access the program and starting receiving error messages. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Then repeated this process two more times. Each time I download the proram I get to popup window and click "Install Products" then click to install Autodesk Revit Architecture 2011 and the associated

image library then after all the components have installed (or attempted to, anyway) I get the message "Some files could not be created. Please close applications, reboot Windows and restart this installation."

I found troubleshooting for error 1603 in regards to AutoCAD 2010 and attempted to follow that since I had exhausted many other options but I do not have the FLEXnet option.

So sorry that I forgot to mention earlier, but I am running Windows 7.

Just to be sure, should this process also work for Windows 7 (the title of the page you recommended references Windows XP and Vista, but not Windows 7)?

I tried that, but ended up with the same outcome.

Looking at Autodesk Design Review 2011.log, this was the series of entries:

it says "Reinstall Autodesk Design Revit 2011 Failed Installation" what are you trying to install revit or design review.

if it is design review please remove the earlier versions

I went ahead and reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer, then started from scratch yet again with the Revit installation and this time it worked.

I restarted the computer try to open it a second time to be sure that it continued to work (because after my very first installation it worked on the first run, but never again thus starting my series of uninstalling and reinstalling), and it did continue to work!
