Requirements for virtualization / remote desktop deployment?

Hello: I'm helping a civil engineering firm scope a project for transitioning from powerful workstations to (hopefully) running AutoCad 3D over a remote desktop virtualization setup.

Approximately 20 engineers will be using the system concurrently.

Can anyone confirm that this is currently being done successfully at other organizations?

Best virtualization software to use? Ie. VMWare, etc?

Are duel monitors / split screen supported?

Does AutoCad3d work well in this type of arrangment in general?

Are ther problems with latency / graphics, etc?

Any type of graphical enhancement devices needed?

how does performance rate against running natively on workstation?

Is a 10GB backplane required, or will 1GB suffice?

Are 10k SATA drives sufficient, or would SAS 15G drives be required for performance?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
