I would like to get some thoughts on security as it relates to setting up
remote network rendering for Viz. We have a small office that houses a
render farm and I frequently work from home. Our office has a DSL connection
(dynamic IP) fed through a Linksys 8-port DSL router to our LAN. We also
have a Linux server that uses dynamic DNS services. As a test I opened up
the Viz network manager port on our router, set it to forward those requests
to the render manager machine, and successfully connected, submitted and
managed network render jobs from home using our dynamic DNS address (oh, the
power ;D).
My question is: what kind of security risks, if any, does this method pose?
Thanks -
