Regional transfer

Hi

I have an Inventor user that is going to live in China on a company contract
for some years and he asks whether he can change some registry entries in
his existing installation (European to Asian region) or he needs a new
installation when he gets there?

We are on subscription in both places, but obviously not having the same
contract no.

Licenses are for use in specific countries (geos). Contact an Autodesk
Reseller or the local Autodesk office in the destination country to transfer
the license. There is a fee involved. The local rep can provide the
information.

Depending upon the destination, it may be less expensive to purchase
locally. Of course, the localization (language) of the product may be an
issue.

FYI: Larger companies can purchase GNUL (Global Network User Licenses) to
allow licenses to be shared around the world. Contact your Autodesk Rep for
more info.

Thanks for the answer.

Let me rephrase:

We have Inventor network licenses in Denmark on a subscription contract.
We have Inventor network licenses in our China plant on a subscription
contract.

Both are english versions.

One user in Denmark wants to use his Inventor installation in China when he
gets there (for 3 years).
Is it possible to avoid a reinstallation by just updating the s/n or should
he remove the Denmark version before going there to reinstall?

The GNUL is waaay too expensive...

If I understand you correctly, the Danish employee wants to arrive in China
with his computer (with a Network version of Inventor already installed) and
be able to use a license from the Chinese server. That should not be an
issue, but I cannot be certain. Inventor should attempt to find the Danish
server, complain that it cannot and allow you the opportunity to specify the
Chinese server (by name or IP).We routinely use multiple license servers
within the U.S. that have serial numbers different from the SN used to
install on a particular client system. I don't know if the software has a
geo restriction in it like DVD movies.

I think you should discuss this directly with your Autodesk Rep or VAR. My
only experience is with U.S.-Central America and U.S.-Europe.

Thanks again Doug

You've got it right now...8^))

I've got in touch with the subscription
support and I've got this answer:

"It is the other region and it is better to
reinstall the software to be 100% legally clear. So it will be the best
solution".
