Read-only behavior & NetWare

I think these are two separate issues related to read-onlyness. One is that if I
choose browse in the traditional or Today startup dialog, I have no read only
option. Later on, after I've dismissed the startup dialog, I can choose
file->open and the options appear.

The other, more troublesome issue is that if I try to open a read-only file
that's stored on my NetWare server from the traditional startup dialog's browse
option, it won't open and I get thrown back to the startup dialog with no errors
or warnings. If I switch to the Today startup dialog, I can browse and open
read-only files, but I don't get the normal read-only alert. Read-only files
open normally if I choose "do not show a startup dialog" or if I open a local
file as opposed to a file on the server.

Here are some screen shots and stuff:

Hi Joe,

I've seen a lot of trouble with the Novell 4.83 clients lately. Most
problems are solved by applying the latest fixes for that client version.
They can be found here:

Product Updates
Netware
Novell Client 4.83...

There are currently 3 updates that should be applied.
