Question regarding upgrade from 3ds Max Standalone to Suite

I have 3ds Max standalone installed and activated on a machine and eventually upgraded my license to a suite. I got a different serial number, etc. with the suite. In this case, do I need to uninstall the existing Max first and install the entire suite with the new serial? If I don't want to do that, does the Max standalone license eventually expire? How does this all work? Especially later when I need to move the license to a different machine or upgrade current machine or something like that, how would license export work?

Any insights are appreciated!
