Problems with XP and network

I have a file server that I share the common acad startup files for all
autocad in the office. This
allows me to edit only one set of files, and everyones startup is identicle.

Since we added a new XP machine, with all others running NT4.0, We seem to
have network problems with
opening autocad. No other network problems are noticed, as everything else
seems to be
unaffected. When opening a drawing, the drawing opens up quickly in either
OS, but then when its loading the startup files, could take 2-5 minutes,
EACH DRAWING.

Is there a problem with XP accessing autocad files used by other machines?

Has anyone else encountered such a problem?

I don't know if this helps, but we went a different route in our install.
We left all the default menus and locations alone and just put our custom
menus in one location on the network. We used 'menucmd' to replace parts of
the default menus that we wanted changed. We have noticed a significant
decrease in 'drawing opening' time from 2002 to 2004 doing it this way.
Now, I can't say that setting up the menus this way is the reason for the
faster times - it's possible that it's just a 2K4 thing. But our 2002 setup
was the same as you described.
