Problems opening maya

Ok, I just recently downloaded and installed the student edition of maya 2014. When I open it all I get is a completely blank output window. That's it. I could wait a million years and that's all that will happen, there is no error message and no splash screen. I'm at a complete loss as to how to resolve this...

You probably need an updated certified video driver.  Make sure your video card meets requirements and then update the driver appropriately.

Hello. What operating system? If this is MAC, I would uninstall and download and install the latest version.

If this is Windows, have you uninstalled and reinstalled?

I did that, and still nothing. Maya had been working fine with my card for
months before this happened.
