Please forgive my ignorance

I have no experience in Autocad, but have been given the task of solving the
following problem:

Work is done on Autocad 14.01 on NT4 Wk SP3.

Other PC's are running Autocad LT98 on Windoze 95 and 98.

Small (8 pc's) Peer to Peer Ethernet Network

When an LT98 machine tries to open an Autocade file on a Workstation,
Autocad freezes and the user must end task. When this machine copies the
file to a local drive then opens it, LT is fine - no problem.

The same thing happens on several tests using different machines.

Have I run into an inherent problem or am I just missing something?

Thanks for your help - this seems to be an excellent Newsgroup.

I would check the file system on the NT machine. Possibility that NT is
running NTFS and Win 98 will be running FAT 32 and this may result in your
problem.

Thanks Christopher but I don't understand the problem. Normally a Win 95/8
client can open a file on a mapped network NTFS drive, can't they?

I have not had any problems between FAT and NTFS. I would check my server
and see if it needs to be upgraded. It also sounds like there may be to
many applications running on the PC.
