Old system fails authentication repeatedly

Autocad 2008 running fo years on an older AMD Winxp machine. suddenly starts failing license verification. Request new authentication button. Fails saying number of authorizations exceeded on this machine. Email licensing. They send new code, software accepts and we're off and working.  Next time software starts, authentication fails and the cycle repeats. This is getting old. So what's changed and how do I fix ????
