Network License Problem

The IP address of the server running ADLM for my AutoCad 2000 clients has
been changed. As a result, I assume, the AutoCAD machines are now looking to
an incorrect IP for the licensing information and finding nothing.

I thought it worked with the NetBIOS name? But apparently not so. Any ideas?
Thanks.

If the IP address has changed, the server code has also probably changed.
If the server code has changed, the license keys will no longer work and
hand out licenses.

What you need to do is call Autodesk and get new authorization (key) code(s)
based on the new server code.

Good luck,

I have a question. Why has the IP address changed for the AdLM server? The
computer that AdLM is installed on should have a static IP address.

All,

AdLM does NOT see the NetBIOS name at all! It sees hostnames which are
different than NetBIOS named although some systems they are the same. Most
systems the NetBIOS name will be uppercase and the hostname will be the same
but lower case. The hostname is case sensitive. Sometimes auxiliary naming
services will resolve a hostname typed in the wrong case and make AdLM work,
this can cause performance and stability problems if you are setting
ACADSERVER with the "@" option or to get across routers.

As for the IP address change causing a change in server code, it will happen
on some systems. AdLM binds its authentication using an algorithm based on
the parameter information available to it.

The IP Address changed because we changed ISPs. It is a static address.

Thanks
