Need help specifying network configuration locations.

I am trying to set up the client for a network rollout of ACAD 2002. Where can I customize the default settings for locations of the plotter files, menu files, etc? I am wanting to do this to maintain all primary settings on the network as opposed being located on the client machine. Can someone point me to instructions for this? Thanks

Well, you really can't, well you can, but only kinda. Here's what I usually do.

I install to a single client from the network deployment. I then go in and set all of the
stuff that I want set. Menu / Toolbar / PC3 files / CTB / STB / Startup Suite / Search
paths / Demand loading / whatever. Now I export the profile. In all of our installs we
use /p switches to specify profiles, so we simply copy the exported profile to each users
userconfig folder and change their acad shortcuts to use the /p switch pointing to their
profile. We had some trouble with this early on because each user had their userconfig
folder hard pathed into the autocad Icon (for example mine was /p
"k:\usercfg\jam\adt.arg"). We've since started using the %username% variable to get the
path correct. Now our /p is "k:\usercfg\%username%\adt.arg" so that no matter who logs in
it resolves to their username.

There have been others, much braver and smarter than me, that have been working on
modifying the .msi file that is created in the deployment. I've not heard (in a while) if
there has been any progress on that front.

I recently posted something about this in the wish list NG - I would really
like to see the network licensed version evolve into a network managed
version. Feel free to add to, refine, improve, or otherwise develop the
comments I posted. If it evolves into a long threaad, with lots of voices
in support, perhps it will have more weight.
