I tried installing and reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable SP1as well as Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, but none seem to be solving this problem.

The installion process immediately starts and stops. This is getting frustrating. Anybody got a solution?

I have seen on other posts people having result=603 and stuff, why is mine showing result=2.

Im on Win7-32, it was working fine before in reinstalled my whole OS today.

Can you remove all the C++ components and then try to install Maya?  Make sure to turn off UAC.
