Moving/installing LM onto new server

Hi all,

I need to know how to move/install Autodesk LM onto a new server.
The problem is I dont have the original install files on CD, only what is on the existing server.
On the existing server I have a directory called Autodesk License Manager and there are a few exe files in there.
My question is, can I move it or do I need to re-install and can I do this without the original install files? Also, can anyone see any potential problem with this?

Regards,
Andy.

Well, you would still need to have a new license file created for you on the new server. As for the License Manager, upgrading usually involves replacing the .exe files, but I am sure that you need to have some initial installation files for registry and uninstall information.

If you lost your CD, you can request a lost media request with Autodesk or your reseller. I believe it is approximately $25.

File copy is enough. You don't have to bother about the registry and to
uninstall it's just to delete the files.

Thanks for the replies.

One more question, will I have to request another authorization code after I move LM?

Andy.

You will have to get a new License File generated for your new server, since it will have a new machine name and MAC address.

That is, unless you keep the machine name the same and remove the NIC and put it into the new server as well. It would be easier just to get a new license file generated. Either call your reseller or 1-800-551-1490 and then option #1 then #2.

Good luck.
