Maya hangs upon launching with error in Command Window

So I just installed Maya 2013 successfully the other night and used it.  Yay!  But tonight, it fails to fully open and has hung  up on me several times.  I had to reboot my Mac many times and every time I attempt to lauch Maya I get the dreaded Command Window error:

updateRendererUI;

 

 

I've tried deleting all my Maya stuff from my computer and re-installing the whole shebang but still no cigar.  

I just doesn't work.  Boo!   

 

Should I re-register and get a new code/download then?

Delete your preferences and restart Maya. The folder is in:

 

WINDOWS

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\maya\2013-x64

 

MAC

Users > YOURUSERNAME > Library > Preferences > Autodesk > Maya > Maya  > 2013-x64

If that doesn't do it, uninstall (Delete) Maya and re-install it.  The 2012 instructions shoud be the same at the 2013 instructions.

Okay, so I deleted what needed to be deleted, however, this did not solve my problem.

When I now attempt to install MAYA 2012 or 2013, Although I have 'Select your Os...' as a selection under the 'Operating Systems'  menu, the download page does not recognize that I have this selected and gives me this error:

Please pick an operating system

 

 

I own a MacBook running the latest Os software...Installing Maya 2013 the first time, worked fine.  Why this error now??

Please note that Matchmover will not work so do not install that component for now.  You must use the original Maya 2013 release.

I am having the same problem but with Maya 2015. I deleted Maya re installed and tried again. Then I deleted Maya and downloaded service pack 2, still nothing. I cannot seem to find the preferences file you referred to. I am using an iMac and I am running a student version of Maya. Please could you help me im not sure what else to do?
