I tried installing Maya 2011 on my Mac and the install software won't load - I click the icon ("Install Maya 2011") and it briefly flashes in the toolbar as if it's about to start and then it immediately closes out. Very weird.
So - I instead downloaded Maya 2010 and while I managed to get it through the installation process, the actual program is MIA on my computer. The program builds the Autodesk folder in my applications folder and inside are the following folders: Adlm, MatchMover2010 and maya2010. Both the MatchMover2010 program and the Fcheck program are in there but not Maya. I did note that in the install process it flagged a problem installing "Autodesk Toxik 2010" so I tried the install again (this time unchecking the box to install Toxik) but to no avail. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Note: both version of Maya I tried installing were the student trial versions from the Autodesk site.

Hi Tariq,
The 32/64 bit distinction is going to be applicable to Windows users. With that being said, 3ds Max 2012 is the only release that is compatible with a Mac OS X, which would explain why you don't see Mac under the Operating System prompt (assuming that you're downloading from the Education Community).

Hope this helps / please let me know if you need further clarification.

Thankyou very much Sir i appreciate your response. One thing more in my mind that why isnt Autodesk 3DS max for mac works the same way like Autocad 2011 Mac ? I mean why we should install BOOTCamp and partiton for windows.? Is it possible in near future that we dont have to do this?
Thankyou
Tariq

You're very welcome tariqhanzo,
Although future development plans for Autodesk software is kept strictly confidential and I'm unable to provide you with any specifics pertaining to release dates or the materialization designs of forthcoming product releases, I can tell you that Autodesk as a whole has been moving more and more towards full Mac compatibility and enabling products to run in Boot Camp or Parallels can be looked at as a stepping stone.
Please reference the following link for more information regarding our Mac compatible products / new releases.

so maya 2012 is not available for Mac? confused by your links as your link says, was it not always available but is now?
For 64-bit Autodesk Maya 2012
- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Microsoft Windows Vista Business x64 Edition (SP2), Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (SP2), Apple® Mac OS® X 10.6.5, Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 5.5 WS, or Fedora™ 14 operating systems
i do know that my mac is not 64 bit.
if it does not run on mac, what are my options? if i run windows on my mac will i be able to use it then? pah ha ha can't believe i just wrote that! the idea makes me cringe, but needs must.
