Maya 7 License

Hi there,

I've the opportunity to purchase Maya 7, an old version but something I've wanted to do for a very long time, ever since University. As a home user/hobbyest the latest and greatest versions are cost prohibitive so my only opportunity is to by an older second hand edition.

However I've just learnt that if I buy this, I only have the discs, no license. Researching this it seams licenses are never sold/not transferable. I take it there is no way I can legally purchase a license for a second hand copy of Maya 7?

nope you can not

you can only legally buy the latest version which is 2014 from an authorized reseller or from the autodesk online store

Ah right - thanks Darren, that's a real pity. I'd started to conclude it wouldn't possible. Guess I'll have to start learning Blender 😞

autodesk does offer rental licenses for Maya 2014

Thanks! I'd spotted those had been introduced when I was looking round the site yesterday. A bit pricey for me to play with for now, but could be an option for the future. 🙂
