Maya 2010 License error message -12 windows 7 ... standalone

I have installed Maya 2010 without making any changes to the install , I used the product and serial numbers given to me via the student downloads.  and I continueously get this License  error -12 message.

I was using a trial version so I know the program runs on my computer I have since uninstalled this trial via uninstall and revo uninstaller and searched my self for any remaining files as well as trashing my temp files and registry files before attempting a reinstall and running Maya 2010 but still I get this message

I have contacted the support team and after a month thier answer was to ask for help here

HELP ME PLEASE!

why was I told to make a new topic by tech support if this was already a topic?

I have been working for months playing email tag with someone who was supposed to help me but they sent me this way told me to make a new topic because they had run out of options ... WTF
