This is an R14 question because we're still using it here. I have a dwg
file on the network (Novel) that cannot be deleted or renamed. The
messages say there is another application that has a portion of the file
locked. However, no one in the company has that particular file open.
I can open it as read only and save it back as another name, but then
I'd have to open 25 other drawings that use it as an xref drawing. Got
    any ideas?

We have the same issues going on and we are using Novell 4.1 with 3.1.0.5
SP1 client. Our workstations are W95b and we are using Acad R14.01 with
local installations and network (IPX) license management.

Upgrade your client to SP2 and make sure you apply the server side file
locking patch. (REVFHRFT.EXE.). Do a search at support.novell.com and then
    apply this. Worked for us.

this has happen to me several times using novell 3 to 5.0. a user or computer did not disconect from server correctly so server still has it locked.
if you go through novell conection to see who is on and what they have open. you will find the person that has the file. kill the conection on server
and then you will be able to rename or delete the file.
normal should release the file after 15 minutes or so i have seen a file be lock for four days!!!
