No, but I did notice this appears as part of a status enquiry

License file(s) on appv11: C:\FlexLM\license.dat:

my license file is stored in c:\flexlm\maya.lic and the software is configured to read it from here so why does the status enquiry show it as being somewhere else?

Normally

C:\FlexLM\license.dat would be the license file

C:\FlexLM\maya.lic would be path (name and port)  to the license server.

Please check in lmtools how it is configured.

re-reading the license file fails every time.

ignore path environmental variables is not ticked, should it be?

The problems started when I installed a new version of flexlm to host the new license file for Maya 11.

Yes Please tick that

also you can try with the new version of flexlm 11.7 (with the ipv6 patch if you have ipv6)

can you ping appv11

please Add lmgrd.exe and adskflex.exe in the DEP exception.

do you have you have firewall clocking these ports (27000-27009 and 2080)

try to use ip address in the license file instead of name

Do you have ipv6 enabled on the machine ? if yes, disable or install patch.

I am remotley connected to appv11 so it is definatley pingable

We don't have internal firewalls so no blocked ports

What and where is the DEP exception?

I can use appv11's ip address but I can ping appv11 and remotley connect to appv11 so I don't think it's a DNS problem

SORTED!!!!

Thanks ever so much for your help!

I thought I'd read the installation doc but can't remember seeing anything about DEP exceptions.

Thanks again!

Make sure your ports 27000 and 2080 are open.  If you are on Server 2008 R2 or newer, you might consider using NLM version 11.7.
