License manager error

Can any one give me some input on the new license manager? We have a
Novell Netware network, with clients running NT 4.0 SP6a. I have
installed the license software on a client pc, the license file is
installed on a share on the novell server.

The license program reads the license file just fine. But it will not
start indicating "Error 1006 WinSock Connection Refused". I can't find
that error message anywhere.

What am I doing wrong?

Are the clients NT40 clients using a GSNW server, or are they actually Netware clients?

Hi there, Acouple of things to be aware of with your setup. First make sure you are running a TCP/IP network
the flex ADLM will only work with TCP/IP (not IPX/SPX) also it is good practice to have the licence file locally
sure keep it on the server but have it on the machine running licence manager. Also make sure you choose Start using services not start using licence file
hope this helps you out . Also the Knowledge base has a good selection of docs on this topic

cheers

Hi

Well, I am running TCP/IP, but not a pure IP environment, I need IPX/SPX
to connect to the nw server (it is nw. 4.2).

A funny thing did happen, when I first ran the manager to obain the info
that was needed for the license, the manager did not find the host id,
ie. the mac address. I had to install windows networking on the machine
then that info became available.

The licence file is local on the machine running the service. I have
also chosen Start using services.

But still, no luck, the service refuese to start.

Thanks

The clients are NT4.0 but we are not running the Gateway services since
we do not have a NT domain, just NT4 clients. The clients connect to the
netware server using Novells own client software, not the Microsoft
client software for Novell.

The config is the samme on the computer "running" the license service.

Did that clearify?

Thanks
