License cannot be obtained

When I open Arch2008 I get an error message "Valid license could not be obtained. Try again." I recieved the license from Autodesk. Where is it suppose to go? I have it on the server with all the other Arch2008 files.

Is this a network license? Did you create a deployment? Did you
install/update FlexLM. When you say "I have it on the server with all the
other Arch2008 files." do you mean that the program is installed on the
server or just the license manager? The license file can go anywhere on the
server as long as it is saved as an LIC or a DAT file and you have pointed
the license manager to that file.

What does the status report running lmtools.exe on the server?
What does the debug log file says?

Tham you for all the help. Found out it was the file servers OS that was causing the problem. IT guy redirected the Network files and changed the lmtools to locate the proper files in the new locations.

Obviously such an error could have happened for a number of other reasons.
Mostly such things happen when someone pulls a plug on a network server or
the server software goes down for one reason or another.
One of the features in our license statistics software is to allow you to
get emails whenever the server is unavailable (e.g. goes down) this is a
useful thing allowing you to cut down on downtime. At least it can make life
easier when you don't actively have to find out if the servers are up or
not.
Good thing your problem was solved though.

Henrik Goldman
