Installation & Licensing

I have received 2013 but never installed or activated it.  I still use 2012 but am off subscription.  I want to transfer 2012 to a new different computer.  The license transfer utility says its an invalid serial number, but it matches the one listed by Inventor.  I dont want to go to 2013 yet.  How can I get this to work?
