LMtools vs Vista

I had got new computer with powerful hardware and i decided to install on it vista and it turned out as a mistake.

I was said to create on my powerful machine network license server and problems started to occur.

When i click use service in lmtools and try to save service Vista pulls out warning that i must be administrator to that but i am already.

Whit out use services check box select server works fine as soon as i select use services service could not be saved.

I want this service because i want to this server start as soon as i power up my computer.

Is your machine going to be the license server for a pool of network
licenses? You don't need a powerful machine for that. We're using an old P3
with Win2000. Just a dumb box that sits there and is (almost) never turned
off.

As far as working with Vista. I haven't had that pleasure yet.

Lmtools works fine with Vista. I've done it myself. You just have to right
click on Lmtools.exe and select Run as administrator. Then it also will work
as a service.

I need very powerful machine because I also will run AutoCAD Architecture 2008 on it and have some really big projects.

And i rather turn it off when ending my work day so it would be little time saving if this license server would start automatically as i power up machine.

But Vista say that i don't have administrator rights to use services.

It sound to me like you're the only one using the license. My pardon if I'm
wrong. If you're the only one using the license it should be installed
standalone not network. We run our license server 24/7/365 so that if
someone need to stay late or come in early. Then can get a license from the
server.

If this is truly how you need to be running the software follow Mr.
Bergmark's advice.

Be sure to run the latest versions of the tools. This will likely help on
your chances to get things running.
There are known problems with older versions of flexlm.
