LM not found error 1200

It appears that one of the installations is locked to an old server name and I'm unable to make it see the new server. Have modified the LICPATH.LIC file but it always puts the old server name back in. Have also used the env variable to point to new server to no avail. Is it a registry value somewhere? I have followed many KB articles trying to get this machine to grab a license from the current LM but it just errors with the infamous 1200.5-96 Name resolution works fine from that machine - ping and reverse ping show correct name and no firewall enabled. The easiest way is to make a search in the registry for the name of the old
server.

In cases like this, unplug your ethernet cable and launch your Autodesk product. When it can't find the NLM, it will post a dialog box asking to you provide the license server system. At this point, plug in the ethernet cable and type the name of the new server. It should find it and remember.

Alternately, if the old server does not exist anymore, you could always make a HOSTS file entry that points the old server to the new one.

There's more than one way to skin this cat...

Setting the env variable should resolve your problem. Make sure that you
are setting ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE and the value is @SERVERNAME or
@SERVER1;@SERVER2;@SERVERn in the case of multiple servers. Do not forget
the @ sign or it will not work.
Once you hace set it, start a new DOS Window and type SET A then enter which
will display all variables starting with A. Make sure that
ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE is there and set to the expected value.

In most cases you can override this completely by using LM_LICENSE_FILE
which the most generic type of environment variable.

LM_LICENSE_FILE is a global FLEXlm variable and defines a search path for
all FLEXlm client software regardless of the publisher.
ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE is an Autodesk software specific variable. It will
not effect software published by other software publishers. Autodesk
recommends using ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE because it will not impact non
Autodesk software and it takes priority over LM_LICENSE_FILE for Autodesk
products.
