Inventor Suite (2011) installation problems (error 1603)

We're having major problems getting the 2011 Inventor Suite installed and I'm hoping someone can help us decipher the logs. The installed gets passed the DirectX 9 and FARO LS portion but fails on the AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 application (we're testing the installation by selecting only Mechanical).

Here's an excerpt from the Autodesk Inventor 2011 Setup.log file:

2010/11/8:11:55:45    bryce    BILLY_DELL    === Setup started on BILLY_DELL by bryce ===
2010/11/8:11:56:50    bryce    BILLY_DELL    Install    DirectX 9.0 Runtime    Succeeded
2010/11/8:11:56:56    bryce    BILLY_DELL    Install    FARO LS 1.1.406.58    Succeeded
2010/11/8:11:57:33    bryce    BILLY_DELL    Install    AutoCAD Mechanical 2011    Failed    Installation aborted, Result=1603
2010/11/8:11:57:34    bryce    BILLY_DELL    Rollback    FARO LS 1.1.406.58    Succeeded

And the last section from the AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 Install.log:

I've tried running the setup as a few different users (the "bryce" user above is a domain admin) and I've also tried right clicking the setup.exe file and running via Run As... and entering an administrator account. The OS in question is XP Pro SP3.

Let me know if I need to attach the full Mechanical install log.

Thanks,

Andy

1603 is generally user rights problem. I would suggest you try to use local administrator to login your machine, and copy the disc contents to your local hard drive, then reinstall Mechanical.

Good luck!

Hi Andy,

Could you post the install log in complete version? I'd be happy to look at it for you to see if there are any underlying issues going on.

Thanks,

Thanks for the replies. I actually did try as a local admin. The install files were also already local to the machine. They worked fine with other workstations.

We couldn't afford to have any extra downtime so we went ahead and just reformatted the laptop in question. The installation worked fine from that point. Thanks again for the replies.
