Inventor 2015 Prof won't install

Hello there,

I have the following problem (education licence - university of Hannover) Inventor prof 2015:

# "Installation now" failed - network interrupt

# start again ... system sad: Inventor installation was successful; so I installed just the other components

# I tried to start inventor the first time - no reaction - start as admin etc. ... no reaction

# I tried to install inventor once again with the "installation now" routine - but the system shows: Inventor installation successful

# deinstalltion with your deinstallation-tool

# Once again: I tried to install inventor with the "installation now" routine - but the system shows: Inventor installation successful

# I deleted all stuff by hand, included regedit parts

# Once again: I tried to install inventor with the "installation now" routine - but the system shows: Inventor installation successful

I haven't more ideas, except to install win 8.1 again 🙂 - this is not a really option for me now.

AutoCAD mechanical runs without any problems so far.

Thank you for your time-input!!

Best regards

Peter

C:\Users\P\AppData\Local: there is no Inventor subject

Is there another place where it might be?

Available Log's in this folder:

AdAppMgr.exe.log

AdSync.log

AdSyncUpdate.log

InfoCenter.log (1,04KB)

InstProxy.exe.log

InfoCenter.log (2,02KB)

Thank's for help!

Peter

you should enable the general windows installer logging:

to do, open regedit and create the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

"Logging"="voicewarmupx"
"Debug"=dword:00000007

After, start the installation again. MSI*.log files were create in the %temp% folder from the user which installs the software.

Post the log files here, that I can check.

The log files are from the installation, but not the right ones.

Take a look at C:\Users\P\AppData\Local\Temp\, there you should have files like MSI*.log. These files I need to analyze your problem.

Hello Markus,

the problem is that there aren't any msi.. files. Check attached pictures.

I tried to use the Windows-search-engine (msi*.log.). Results on c: are attached. On my second hard drive e: aren't any results.

Are you sure that it have to be msi*.log.? I have a Win 8.1 64bit system.

Should I have same files for my Autocad Installation?

My download folder is on c: I guess it's forced by the installation system. My installation folder is and was on E:

Of course "inventor" requires some items on c: as well (for the main installation).

Thanks!

Peter

Peter,

it is possible, that you do not have the MSI*.log files.

If you start the setup.exe program from Autodesk. Before they start any .msi file, they will do some prechecks to see if all hardware req's are fulfilled and what prerequistes they have to install. It looks like, there is a problem.

At the moment I have the installation sources for Inventor 2015 not here, so I can not look in which order they do the checks. I will check this evening and let you know.

Markus,

there is no precheck yet. I can't download inventor with the installation now routine (see arrow - picture). The direct download is available. But: After the setup-start the system stops and shows an error massage with the message that the installation.exe is part of a group of files. There aren't any other files. It's just one downloaded file.

I am sure that I haven't any other MSI*.log. files.

Precheck: AutoCad run through a precheck and showed that the grafic card isn't an expected one. I clicked "OK" and AutoCad started. But this wasn't a part of the installation but rather a part of the programm.

Thank you very much!

I will try to install the 2014 version .. perhaps this evening.

I will keep in touch!

regards

Peter

Peter,

not really solved, because Inventor 2015 is not installed 😞

To clean the pc really from Inventor 2015 you need all msi files from all parts of the inventor 2015 installation to remove all component registry entries from the registry.

And if the setup.exe program tried to check some of this entries it thought inventor 2015 was already instralled as in your case.

May be an idea for a little program.

regards

Markus

Hey, I see your comment about changing registry values to enable windows
logging. I have located the Registry folders you mentioned, but I'm not
sure how to create keys. I would think to click "new Key" but I'm not sure.
Could you give me a quick rundown on how to do this. Also, when I'm typing
in "Logging"="voicewarmupx" do I need to include the quotation marks?
I am on windows 8.1 64 bit if that matters.

Thanks so much for your help,

- Joey

open regedit navigate to the key, then right mouse button, then follow the screenshot. After you have create the key Logging, double click, then you can modify the value to voicewarmupx

Awesome response, that was exactly what I needed. In the C:\Users\Username\appdata\local\temp file I found these  four files that look like log files.

Here is the last file, I could only upload 3 at a time.

Looks like your installation fails, because "Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86)" has a problem during the install.

What you can try is to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86)" manually. If this is successful you can try the Autodesk package again.

To do open windows explorer, go to folder:

"C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk Flow Design\3rdParty\x86\VCRedist\2012"

select the file "vcredist_x86.exe", right mouse button so that the shortcut menu open, then select "Run as Administrator". Follow the instructions of the installation program.

Thank you so much. I repaired the installation of "Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86)"  and tried the install again. It works.
