Inventor 2012 SP2 hangs on install

We cannot install SP2 on our computers, the installation hangs with 0% CPU, see attached screenshot.

We have tried:

  1. Rebooted and retried.
  2. Downloading the SP again
  3. Installing from local file.
  4. Left it running over night.
  5. Updating gfx drivers, dunno why I did that really.

The consultants can install it on their computers without any problems.

Me and my colleges cannot. We have Lenovo D20, Win7 64. McAfee might be relevant.

Is there a log file where I can see what goes wrong?

If you have other suggestions please post.

Generally speaking, you will want to always follow these simple rules as a prerequisite:

1.  Install with local admin rights

2.  Turn off UAC

3.  Disable anti-virus

Those are typically the most common culprits.  Beyond that, there might be a log file in your %TEMP% folder.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply and good suggestions.

It is resolved now, the problem was due to that we had installed from network and the install files had been moved.

Required manual editing of the registry.

Would have been nicer with a notification instead of the installer hanging forever.
