Inventor 2008 on Win7 - crashing

Yes, I know, Inventor 2008 is old.  It's not designed to run on Win7.  I should upgrade...

Fact is, I like 2008 and don't care for the Ribbon interface on the newer versions.

I have a new computer which I'm trying to bring up. I installed Inventor 2008 and have installed SP3.

Problem is when I bring up a part or assembly file Inventor crashes.  I currently have it set for XP Compatibility mode.

System is a Core i7 processor.  GeForce TGX 550Ti graphics card.

I"m open to any and all suggestions as to how to get this thing working.

Here is the info from Hardware Diagnostics:

This Direct3D graphics driver is not Microsoft WHQL certified
Graphics Hardware Description: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Direct3D \ Hardware Renderer
Graphics driver file nvd3dum.dll is version 8.17.12.7533
Using Full optimization  (this is the recommended setting)
The display is using 32-bit color

Your best bet is to update the video card driver to something WHQL certified (even if your old product libraries do not say it is.)

Update to this driver and make sure that your Inventor is running as Administrator in XP or Vista mode.  You will also want to disable UAC and possibly make an exception in your anti-virus for the Inventor folder.
