Installing student version of Inventor Professional 2010

Hello,

I have downloaded student version of Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010 32 bit to Windows boot camp partition on an iMac8,1 running Windows 7 32 bit. Inventor opens but crashes on opening a new ipt or a ipt from usb hard drive. The error message is "Unhandled Exception". My set up meets all of the system requirements listed for Mac users on the website. There were errors on install re. Direct X and DWG True View.

Can you be more specific on the error message? Maybe post a screen shot of the error. What are the results when opening .ipt files that are on the boot camp partition?

I have attached a screen shot of the error. I've tried opening an .ipt file saved on the boot camp partition and the same thing happens, Inventor closes with this error.

Can you resubmit this crash report? Include this forum thread number, 2740747, so that I can search for it. Post to this thread when you have submitted it so that I know when to go looking. I look it up and give any recommendations that I might be able to learn from it.

I asked the Inventor support team about this. They provided me with several recommendations to pass on to you.

1. It may be the display adapter:

     a. Update your display adapter drivers.

     b. Test after temporarily setting the graphics to software acceleration.

2. Try to rule out a bad template:

     a. Use Ctrl+shift while left-clicking New to see if you can start a new part file.

     b. Can you open the Standard.ipt from the design data folder of the active project file without a crash?

     c. What if you open a Tutorial use the tutorial .ipj?

3. This may be a .NET problem. Review this blog and try the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool. Then reinstall .NET 3.5 SP1 from Microsoft.

Let us know what results from these.

4. Reinstall DirectX.

5. Temporarily turn off add-ins and API before starting Inventor by using the Inventor Add-in manager from the Windows Start menu.
