I've not run into this before so I'm hopeing someone out there has and has found a resolution. I have a client who is in the process of upgrading their software to Civil 3D 2012, but are attempting to get their computers ready for it. So they purchased a Windows 7 system with the ability to run Windows XP Mode. They need to finish off their projects in Land Desktop 2007. They attempt to install their Land Desktop and they receive a Windows Installer error that states:
"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I checked the obviouse - not in safe mode and the user has full admin rights.
I attempted to install Windows Installer 3.0 thinking maybe by installeing an older version it might then have the ability to install. No luck.
By the way, we've successfully installed Civil 3D 2007 in the same environment.
Has anyone seen this or can anyone offer any suggestions. Please help.
Thank you in advance,
JP
