Installing AutoCad 2011 on Windows 7

Hi- I'm trying to install autocad on windows 7.

Throughout the installation process, I couldn't see the bottom of the web page where I have to make selections to proceed. I cannot resize the window- only minimize and maximize.

In order to proceed through the installation process, I pulled up the top bar and could  see the buttons and then navigated with my keyboard arrows because the mouse wouldn't go to the bottom of the page. I hit enter on the option that I wanted (ie: next, cancel, finish) and it worked until I got to the last page: Begin Installation. I can't hit install. The button is highlighted (from my arrows) and when I hit enter, nothing happends.

This is the only program/window that this happens with. All other windows can be resized. I thought it may be a  Windows 7 issue but it seems like an AutoCad problem because the AutoCad windows are the only ones that have this problem.

Thanks for any advice.

Atara

This issue could be related to the display settings of Windows 7.

Go to Control Panel>Display and change to Medium or Small icons.

Restart the machine to see if the changes made bore any effect on the installation window.

I confirmed that my icons and text under display settings are set to small.

Are there any other solutions that you can think of. Once again, I downloaded AutoCad and am unable to click on the final install button.

Thanks for your help,

Atara

You can post a screen shot of the instance for review.

Meanwhile, if you set the display resolution of the monitor to 1,280 x 1,024 would the installation screen appear correctly?

Hi- Thanks so much for the advice. I tried that and everything got smaller so that's a good sign. I'm re-downloading the program and will see if the buttons are now accessible.

One more question- with the previous attempt that I made to download the program and then not being able to reach the buttons, do I have to redownload that whole thing from the Autodesk website or is the program already downloaded somewhere on my computer  where I can pick up where I left off and just hit install?

Thanks again and I hope this works!

You can try installing from the already downloaded installable file.

Sorry for the ignorance- may I ask where that folder is on windows 7?

I can't help you on the path in which you have saved the installable, but try and download the same again and see to

which default path it asks you to save in. This should be the very likely path where the installable is located.

Ok. It says it will take 5 hours but if there's no way to know where I saved the download then I'll have to wait.

Thanks- I'll keep you posted!

Hi-

The solution that you recommended- changing the resolution of my screen worked.
I was able to click install and everything went smoothly except for this error which appeared during install:

Eror 1308 Source file not found: C:\Autodesk\AutoCAD_2011_English_win_64bit_x64\en-us\acad\Acad\Program files\Root\HelpHtml\contexthelp\mtext_cli.htm. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

I hit Retry but it didn't work. The other options were Abort and Ignore. I hit Ignore.

Then it continued but stopped when it said that my License Expired. I just received the license from AutoCad on September 14th so I don't know why it's saying it's expired.

This is what I was sent by AutoCad:

Your serial number details:

Serial Number: 355-16233067
Product Key: 001C1

Thanks so much for all your help. I hope that this is solved soon.

You may be directly clicking on the option to Run/Install from the web.

I suggest you download the installable onto a single folder at a known location on your local drive and
attempt installing.

Refer to the techinical solution below:
