So for days now I've been forwarded from one person to the other trying to get Maya 2011 working on my Mac. Installation goes ok but when I launch Maya I get this message: License was not obtained. Tried Maya 2011 (657c1 2011.0.0F) Error 20.
Support tells me I need my registration code, which I can't get because I can't get that far. Then they ask me to try this link.
which is where I started from in the beginning. Then they tell me to go to a forum where I can't get access because I get a message saying I don't have access to the forums. Getting really pissed here of turning in circle. So I finally found this forum. There's another guy who had the same problem but it goes on for 6 pages of try this, doesn't work, then try this, doesn't work.
So, can somebody please tell me if there's a solution to this problem without sending me to another forum? Please? It's been days now and it's getting very frustrating.

Sorry it is not an easy case which can be fixed in one simple (I wish it was)
There were many reasons for the error, hence the thread went into pages..
I will summarize the possible issues here
->Language is set to non-english in Mac OSX; you need to change it to English
->License system is corrupt; you need to delete license related files manually and then reinstall Maya
->Demo version was not deleted properly, you will need to clean all the files related maya demo before installing it.
I am sure you can fix using one of the possible steps from the thread.
Thanks for the help. I got it to work by dragging Maya from the Application folder in the trash, same with the 2011 folder in /Users/Shared and finally I trashed the Adlm folder in my /Library/Application Support/Autodesk/
