I've installed Autodesk Suite on the server

Hi

I've installed Maya Premium Suite on the server. Flexnet asks for the server name, when I enter it message says server not found. I'm wondering if it was an error to install the suite on the server, if so what should I do to correct the problem? I want to use the suite on the computer I currently using as the server so I'd use another older comp as the server? Please advise

Are you trying to install Maya on the server or the license manager on the server  or both ?

if the license server is not started , it is blocked by firewall or if you have ipv6 enabled on the server you might get this error during Product startup due to connectivity issues.

Please check the system requirement for Maya, Server OS might not be fully supported to run Maya.

I'm trying to install both on the same computer, is this possible?

I've watch the video and realised I haven't requested a license file from autodesk yet but the project is registered. Before I do this I want to check if I can install both on the same computer

both on same machine is supported, but OS would be need to be checked. eg:- Windows server 2003/2008 is not tested to run Maya

the OS is W7 64bit

I followed the instructions at autodesk-register-once

I couldn't find the folder "Program Files\Autodesk License Manager\License folder on your license server" so I saved the .lic to the C;\flexlm folder

When I run maya the license finder doesn't find the server. If I point the license finder to the file, It looks good, says...

Flexnet license finder has completed. Press finish

But I then get an error message...

A valid license could not be obtain by the network license manager....

Error [-15.570.0]

this error is due to the license service not started or the localhost address is not resolved properly.

please make sure license service is started using lmtools (status enquiry as described in the video)

try to ping the server with the name.

c:\flexlm should have a file called maya.lic or licpath.lic please make sure the content looks like below

SERVER nameofserver 00000000000000

USE SERVER
