How to set up default 2014 AutoCAD Profile?

Hello, Autodesk and users!

Please, help me to set some variables values, and to add some additional support file search pathes to default CAD profile for all users.

Let me to explain : immediately after AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAd plant 3d 2014 has been installed on workstation, I would like to set some profile templates for this applications, so that when any user will execute AutoCAD or Plant 3D for the first time, he will have my special settings in its newly created profile.

What is the proper way to do this? May be I can to change deployment somehow? Or I can to change something in workstation registry (HKLM) or in workstation program files?

For AutoCAD 2014, invoke OP in the command line, go to Optinos > Profile > Unnamed Profile > Reset. Then you could go to default profiles.

On the other side, you could go to Windows Programs > Autodesk > AutoCAD 2014 > Reset Settings to default.

For AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014, I am not familiar with it, Let others provide solution to you.

Thank you, Yong Jing!

Sorry, I can't to understand what is " invoke OP in the command line" - see file attached.

Also, I wanna clarify. I'm talking now as system administrator, I need to produce this action (the same) via some script at many workstations.

Also I don't need to reset settings to default, instead I need to set default (before user will create his profile) some profile settings.

This is AutoCAD Options.

You should input OP(Options) in AutoCAD's command.

To create a default profile so that each user will get the same settings when they run the application for the first time have a go at this.

In AutoCAD run Options the select the Profiles tab next on the right hand side pick Add to list and enter a name for the profile that you want to create then pick Apply & Close.

Next pick the profile you have created and double click it or highlight it and select Set Current from the options on the right you will then see that the profile is now current as it is listed on the top left of the options page.
Next make any changes that you require within this profile we set default printer paths, tool palettes, save locations and support file additions etc., once you have completed this pick the Profile tab and select Export you will then be given the option to save the profile with a default .arg extension.

Once complete you can locate the named .arg file on a server and make a call to it using a modified AutoCAD shortcut that has the /p switch enabled on it so when the user runs it the default setting will be written to their system with the named profile being the default.
There are other ways to do this but we find that for new users it works well in our environment.

Hope this is of some help.

Thank you very much, Dazzman.

It is an interesting idea, but it seems, that it is not what I need.

I thought that you wanted to make sure that the users had the settings you had set up for them doing what I suggested would allow you to do that for them is this not what you want?

Another option would create a custom deployment of the product that you want to install and make the changes as you create them.

Other than that you could change the registry settings for each user but I think they would need to run the product at least once in its native mode before they would be applied as the keys only become available after the user has run it?

Hi kudryavcevrm,

Either customise the Deployment Image's to incorporate the additional paths and templates etc on a shared location or look at a custom solution to demand load/import a profile and make active from a shared location to the users workstation for the product they use by dragging and dropping a configuration LISP file into the program.

Dazzman,

If I may ask a question about your comment to ...call to it using a modified AutoCAD shortcut that has the /p switch enabled...,

do you mean to add this: /p "PPI-C3D 2014x64" after I have first imported this profile into C3D, or: /p "[server]\[folder]\PPI-C3D 2014x64" ?

when I try the switch with the server name & folder, it doesn't work.

We make a call to the server using a fixed drive letter but you should be able to substitute this for the relevant UNC path so our looks like this /p "J:\systems\Acad Profiles\ACAD2012.arg" or you could use /p "\\server name\share\systems\Acad Profiles\ACAD2012.arg" the /p “profile name” will only reference a profile that has been added locally.

Hope this helps.

Using a drive letter is what I meant insetead of server name, and I'm not sure what happened yesterday, but I tried it again today and it works.

I think I missed a parentheses yesterday when typing the path.

Thanks for the help.

AutoCAD 2015 open your custom drawing to save your custom profile type OPTIONS.

Select the profile tab > Add to List > enter a profile name.

Select OK

Win 7 Start button > all programs > Autodesk > right mouse on the AutoCAD 2015 icon >

select properties.

see scteen shot 1

see scteen shot 2

In the Target Box replace <<VANILLA>> with YOUR PROFILE name.

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\acad.exe"  /p YOUR PROFILE /product ACADM /language "en-US"

every time AutoCAD will use YOUR PROFILE

I would loke to thank

for his assistance
