How do I change which license server Autodesk point to?

I put in an old server name for the single license server. How do I change the server Autodesk looks for to the new one without reinstalling everything?

Nevermind this. I found it. A file called LICPATH.LIC in the Autodesk directory... just had to switch the name. Works now.

There's also an environment variable which can be set.

These are the notes I keep on the subject:

License Manager (AdLM), it first reads the environment variable ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE to determine where to look for its network license.

If the servers specified by ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE are not available, or are out of licenses, the client reads the following subkey in the Windows® registry to determine where to look next:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager\ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE

If no available licenses are found at the server specified in the registry subkey, or this registry subkey does not exist, the client reads the licpath.lic file located in the root install folder to determine where to find its network license. If no available licenses are found there, the License Finder dialog box is displayed.

Note: The registry key location may have changed in newer versions

I'm not sure if it is proper etiquite to post on the end of this thread or create a new one for virtually the same question.

Our IT dept is installing a new license server for our ACAD licenses.  I have about 15 users with ACAD 2015 and 2014 installed pulling 4 NLM's from the old server name. Would it be easier to have the users copy over the old LICPATH.LIC file with the new server name or set the environment variable? I think I can eMail the 15 users the new LIC file and tell them to copy it over the old file.  I might even be able to write a BAT file for them to run to do it for them.  Would it be better to get them to add an environment variable in Win7?

This isn't too old a post so it's fine.

Personally I prefer to use the environment variable and delete the LICPATH.LIC files. This works best on our single server system. However each system is a little different from each other. I developed this standard through diagnosing problems and testing alternate methods.

I would recommend setting the variable and registry entry to the correct settings. According to the document I posted above the LICPATH.LIC file is the last item looked for. So if you have an old server in the environment variable ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE and registry entry. That's what the software will look for first. So they should contain the correct information so the software doesn't have to search for an unavailable server before reading the LICPATH.LIC file. I suppose this could also be prevented by the deleting the variable and registry entry but I don't like to do that.
