How Do I Submit Print(plot) to Novell Queue on Hold?

My client has a Novell Netware 4.11 server with designjet plotters shared
via dedicated print servers. Autodesk R14 is loaded locally on the
workstations (both NT workstation and Windows 98). We are using Novell 32
bit clients and logging in to the NDS, not the bindery mode utilizing IPX.
The problem they are experiencing is that when an engineer submits a plot to
the queue, it is processed before the designjet operator can see what type
of paper to load. Once the plot is in the designjet buffer, there is no way
to tell what the paper requirement are. I would like to have the jobs
submitted to the queue "on hold" so the operator can see what type of paper
to load. The operator would then remove the hold for the plotter to process
    the job.

I have been able to minipulate the Windows print drivers to set the job to
be submitted "on hold", but this doe not apply to autocad. Appearantly,
Autocad uses it's own drivers. We tried using the "system default printer"
in Autocad, although this does submit the job on hold, the engineers have
lost a signficant amount of control of how the job will be plotted.

I imagine that the .PC2 file could be modified to add (or change) a setting
to allow the printjob to be submitted on hold. Any assistance would be
    greatly appreciated!!!!

    Todd,

Consider plotting to a file from AutoCAD. Once the plotter is ready, the file
can be submitted via an nprint command.

    Todd,

What you want to do is change the printer object's default form from 0 to
1, and then service mode for forms to "Service only currently mounted
form." All of this can be done from within NWADMIN under the selected
    Printer object's Configuration page.

The plots will remain on hold in the queue after they've been sent from
AutoCAD. Once the plotter operator changes the paper, that person can
use PCONSOLE to change the form for the current job from 1 to 0, and out
    will come the plot.

    Bill,
Thanks! You hit the nail right on the head. Made the changes you
described & it works great. My client and I are indebted to you.

    Thanks again
