Help!! doesnt seem to work on network version

I have installed and configured LDD 3 at one of our remote offices... I ran
the Netsetup and created a deployment package, along with installing flexLM.
I created the service for flexlm with the lic file we got and everything
looks fine. The service is running...

When I install the LDD 3 on the client machines from the deployment package,
it installs fine, but doesnt seem to be a network version... It pops up
telling me I have 15 days for the trial, and I can either register, or use
as demo...

I tried setting an Environment Variable using LM_LICENSE_FILE and the IP of
the server to no avail..

Does anyone know why it wouldnt act like a network install?

Please let me know if you can...

Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,

It sounds like you have created the deployment as a stand-alone version.

Once you have chosen the deployment type (Client, Network etc.) the second screen prompts for the
installation of the Network License Manager, but the fourth option on this screen is to "Configure
for single user without License Manager". It sounds to me like you used this option.

You need to redeploy but choose the option not to install the License Manager.

Also, it is best not to use the LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable as this can cause precedence
problems when finding a server. I would recommend you use the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE environment
variable should this prove necessary.

Please let me know if this solves your issue.

Hi,

where did this ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE variable pop up? Never heard of it
before! Is it in the documentation as I feel I have read it through and
through...

Petri,

We are now starting to document the adskflex_license_file environment
variable in preference to lm_license_file. You will begin to see solutions
and presentations amended to reflect this.

Hi Petri,

It is indirectly referred to in the FLEXlm End Users Guide.

In Section 3.1.2 it refers to the VENDOR_LICENSE_FILE. In our case this is ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE,
and this is preferable to use over LM_LICENSE_FILE.
