AutoCAD 2000i and 2002 (but not 2004).
How to Reformat Your Hard Drive Without Reauthorizing
License files are stored in the hidden folder C:\C_DILLA. If these files are
modified or deleted, you will have to reauthorize, such as if you reformat
your boot disk. Some major hardware changes may also cause reauthorization,
but not changes to the video board or RAM. If you upgrade from one OS to
another without deleting the license files, you don't need to use this
procedure (but you may need to upgrade the license drivers; check the
downloads).
You can avoid reauthorization by following these steps, if you have a second
PC where you can "park" the license temporarily.
1. Exit all products, and do not run them again until after the last step.
2. Use the PLU to export the license to the second PC.
3. Backup the C:\C_DILLA folder (including the SETUP subdirectory, used for
uninstall).
4. Reformat the boot disk and make any other desired changes.
5. Restore the C:\C_DILLA folder from the backup created in Step 3.
6. Reinstall the product (but do not launch it yet).
7. Launch the PLU, go to Import, and write down the MIC of this PC (some
major operations may change this number).
8. On the second PC, launch the PLU, go to Pool, find the entry for the
original PC, and update the MIC with the new value from Step 7. (Do this
update on any other PCs that export to the original PC, or else
export/import will fail).
9. On the second PC, export the license back to the first PC, and import it.
If you don't have a second PC, skip the export/import (Steps 2, 7, 8, and
9). There's a chance that you may still have to reauthorize, in this case.

I am wanting to reformat my hard disk (to clean it up) and will need to
install my Acad2000i from scratch. Is there a way of doing this without
having to send off a request code again.
