All,
We are in the process of getting new servers for our office, so I am in
the process of getting all of my ducks in a row to move our Flex LM...
I was wondering if anyone has installed Flex LM on a Windows Server
2008 r2 server?? I was told by Autodesk that 2008 R2 was not a supported
format, so of course now I am a little bit worried...
We are also setting up virtual servers, so I was somewhat concerned about that
due to the mac addresses and all of the other things that Flex LM is calling on...
So I was just hoping that someone could set my mind at ease.......
Thanks

You should be fine. Install the NLM 11.5 from the Autodesk media and then upgrade the files to 11.7 from the following website:

Setting this up on a virtual server is also fine. However, I would recommend hard coding the MAC address to the virtual NIC so that it doesn't randomly change and invalidate your LIC file.

Hi Travis,
I have a similar problem as descibed, but a specific one.
With Mapguide2010 installer the NLM 10.8 is included. But We would like to install Mapguide2010 on Windows 2008 server.
As far as you know NLM 10.8 is not workin on win2008 server.
Can we just install the newer version of NLM?
Best Gergely

Hi,
Yes you can install NLM 11.7 (use the link of Travis) for use with Mapguide
2010.

Yes, Franck is correct (as usual) but you will also want to make sure that you install the 11.5 version of adskflex.exe along with this -- since your version will still be 10.8. The NLM files are just the lmtools.exe, lmgrd.exe, and the lmutil.exe at 11.7. The adskflex.exe is provided on the 2010 Autodesk media with the 11.5 version of the NLM. I'd also recommend adding all 4 files to the DEP exception list on your Server 2008 as well as providing firewall exceptions (if necessary) to ports 2080 and 27000~27009.
I will attach the adskflex.exe as a zipped file here for your convenience.
