Fatal Error c000000hd in 781474595h

Real tough one guys:
Fatal Error c000000hd in 781474595h
This error is happening on a users machine as soon as Autocad Arch. 2008 attempts to locate a licence.

Note: when I "trick" the registry into thinking it is a local license, it works just fine and I have 1 day on a trial version.
Other users are able to obtain licenses without any problems. This machine is Win XPSP2. Internet explorer 6. I can ping the server no prob.

Here's what I've tried - but to no avail:
Doing a total clean uninstall/install reinstall of ACAD Arch 08.
Setting ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE to the server.
SP1 is installed.

I'm lost! Help!

Correction in the fatal error - it is actually c000000DH rather than what I had typed previously. Prolly dosn't make a huge difference, but I like to be precise.

Probably you should give up registry manipulation and do a proper install
for the network license.

Registry manipulation was for troubleshooting purposes only. If you had fully read my post, you'd see that I have done a full uninstall/reinstall the "proper" way.

But thanks for your insight.

I'm sorry -- you're right, I missed that. Since there's a local license, it
was installed incorrectly to begin with (unless the trial was created when
you switched it to local). Ideally an uninstall should be followed by a
reboot before reinstalling from the deployment.

It's unusual for the client to crash when looking for a license; there are
robust error messages. I'd guess you're in the right vein of looking for
things that might block network access. What's different about this PC from
others that work? Can you ping the server by name and IP, and can you ping
the workstation both ways from the server?
