This problem started appearing today, everything worked fine just a few days ago. We are running AutoCAD 2012. Suddenly AutoCAD is asking for the licensing server. Even after filling in the server name, no succes and it again asks for the servername.
In LMTools it shows the following message:

As a test I changed the hostid in license file, but then I get the message "invalid license file".
Looking at the log file I assume it has something to do with the hostid, but I don't understand why this "suddenly" appears. I must mention that the licensing server is a Virtual Server.
Any help would be a appreciated.
Kind regards,
Remko Venema
you can't change the hostid (MAC Address) of the license file
check to make sure the MAC address of the VM matches to what is in the license file

Darren is 100% correct.
17:26:28 (adskflex) SERVER line says 0022640d8c2c, hostid is 0050569e0000
Like he mentioned, you either modified your LIC file (bad) or your virtual NIC changed its MAC address (fixable.)
(late answer but, in case anyone asks again)
As a matter of fact, you cannot change any single character in the license file, for a checksum prevents it.
The one and only solution is to set the hostid of any NIC associated with that virtual server to the hostid in the license file. It even works if this NIC is disabled and you use another one to join the LAN.
is it possible for the MAC address just change? This I feel has happened to me after a bridging to the network card was disabled and then connected again. now the MAC address is 1 character different to the one in the license file.
