I am getting an error message 1326 when trying to update from revit 2010 to 2011 and installation fails. I tried to uninstall 2010 to do a clean install and the the uninstallation process fails with the same error.
What are my next steps?
Can you check out this solutions?

Then reinstall and run the updates again. Which update are you using?
Well, that is the problem. I can't uninstall the 2010 becasue part way throught the uninstall I get the same error and it does not complete the uninstall. The only thing that it has uninstalled is the license because when I try to run 2010 now it only starts in demo.
1. Backup your registry.
2. Run through the instructions here:
3. Once the keys are deleted....you can delete the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit folder.
4. Install Revit 2010. By deleteing the keys in step 2, you are telling the computer that no Revit 2010 is installed on your computer and it should force it to install/over write any files in various locations on your computer.
I am still getting the same error at the same stage of install. I believe that I got all of the registry items and then deleted the revit 2010 folder, but I get the the same error 1326: getting file security........
what is the next step to hopefully get this installed in a timely manner?
does Windows 7 have the same structure as vista 64 bit listed here? http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13712572&linkID=9243099
It should be the same path (Vista/Windows 7). Personally, I would suggest if possible to upgrade to Windows 7.
I am using windows 7 pro. I was trying to determine if the path for the registry items were the same as I am still having the same problem.
Is there phone support for this product? This could take weeks at best to get installed at this pace.....
If you have Silver, you can log a case at: www.autodesk.com/subscriptionlogin. I did find this....
