Error activating AutoCAD after re-install

I've just re-installed a computer that was running AutoCAD (without exporting the license first) - when I try to run AutoCAD after it has been re-installed I get the following error when trying to activate:

The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again. (1)

The serial number I am using is definitely correct (the box is in front of me!)

Please could someone help with this issue?

Hi Bergstrom and welcome to the forums!

Is it possible that your product has been upgraded to a newer version (2013, for example) and you're trying to activate an older one (2012, 2011, etc)?

Can you please send me your serial number and request code via private message (click on my screenname camilo.lemos and then on Send This User Private Message)?

I'll then be able to see why you're getting an error.

Thank you,

Camilo Lemos
