    Error Code [-96.491.1006]

My three Flexlm servers are reporting borrowed licenses for PC's that don't have a borrowed license for Revit Architecture. I have one laptop that does have a license but I get the error code [-96.491.1006] unable to return borrowed license. How can I clear my license servers to restore the correct settings and allow the return of the borrowed lic? NB: I have set my options file to prevent Revit borrowing but this is getting overridden by cascading ACAD Architecture suite licenses which keep stealing the Revit license!

    Any advice will be appreciated.

Borrowed licenses will show (linger) beside them in the server status enquiry.  If you do indeed have borrowed licenses but the computers listed do not have licenses borrowed for that product anymore, you can usually resolve this by launching the product again on those machines, borrow the license again, and return it.  If you have a stuck license on your laptop that will not return, you can simply just wait out the time period and it will expire.

I assume you are running a redundant license model?  Such a model typically has issues like this because it has to update its reporting between the servers.

I'm running distributed servers and using Environment variables to control the server selection, is that described as redundant?. Yes the license is stuck but it is an ACA using a Revit lic and I hadn't set a borrow time limit so the user booked it out for 30 days! With only three Revit lics and one tied up on a laptop I need to clear the error, the laptop doesn't even have Revit installed! Is there no way to clear it?

    Thanks for your input.

No, distributed is different than redundant.  I suspect that only one of your servers shows a stuck borrowed license then?  If so, send me a private message with the status enquiry pasted so I can provide you with a potential fix.

Thanks, this is useful to remember, it certainly clears the client of the license but my server is still refusing to play ball.

have you tried a stop/start server on the start/stop/reread tab?
