Elan: Kick users how

Hi, As mentioned in a post yesterday, one of our customers has several
Inventor R5.0 NLS licenses, which means Elan as ADLM.
The problem is that if a user are exiting Inventor there can go up to 4
hours, before the license is released, which is unexeptable.

Is there any option for kicking/ release licenses for unused seats,
within the ADLM tools (not the Logoff utility)

AFAIK, there is not currently a way to do this with FlexLM. On the older
AdLM you could bury a client, but everything I've read there isn't a way to
do this with FlexLM. I don't think that the LogOff program will work with
IV either, I believe that it's only for AutoCAD.

Maybe one of these days someone, either Autodesk or a 3rd party, will come
up with an add-on that will provide this functionality in IV as well.

I wish that Autodesk would provide this functionality as part of the core
product in all of their network licensable products.

Lars, if your elan is the same as the one used for AutoCAD 2000i, which I
suspect it is, the have a look at the wincntrl.exe application. It will
allow you to bury a client.
Also you can specify the hold times in the resource file. Look in the
elm.hlp file for more on this file. You may have to look at the "Controlling
License Availability with the AdLM Resource File" in Chapter 3 of the
Installation Guide.
