Hi,
in Alias Design 2013 the cursor stucks to selection mode (see image) and Alias must be restarted. Also windows stuck e.g. Information Window doesn't allow typing nor even closing the window. Both problems occur all the time.
I have qualified HW: Lenovo W530, Quadro K1000M, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (Service Pack 1) and I installed Alias 2013 Service Pack 1 but it didn't help.
Should the graphics card settings be changed?
Thank you in advance,
Jarkko

I would start with the latest nVidia WHQL certified driver here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-notebook-win8-
Make sure when you do the install that you check the box to do a clean installation. And personally, I only install the driver and uncheck all the rest of it.

Thanks, I tried that: clean installation and only the driver - but it didn't fix the problem.

Just a thought, but does it happen if you log in as another user (i.e. the local Administrator account) as well?

Desigma,
How thourough was your uninstall? If you just uninstalled the program and reinstalled, you have missed a score of files and folders. Situations like you describe could be connected to corrupted product profile folders. After you uninstall you should be looking to delete specific program folders (should be clearly named) in these locations:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\
C:\Users\All Users\Autodesk\
C:\Users\**YOUR USERID**\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\
C:\Users\**YOUR USERID**\AppData\Local\Autodesk\
After these are deleted, I would reinstall.
In this case specifically, I am also wondering about your interfaces. Are you using a fancy mouse or a 3d controller or tablet? Uninstall anything special and see if it helps. Cursor and window issues can be connected to conflicting peripheral drivers.

Hi,
I haven't re-installed Alias, only Nvidia driver as advised.
Thanks for the input device tip: the problem occurs with Wacom tablet, both stylus and Wacom mouse. An old mouse works fine. I will look for the latest Wacom drivers if that resolved the problem.
Thank you,
Jarkko

I downloaded the latest Wacom driver:
DRIVER 6.34-3 RC FOR WINDOWS 8, WINDOWS 7, VISTA & XP (32 AND 64 BIT)
...but it didn't resolve the problem.

I even tried an old Wacom driver:
DRIVER 6.12-5 FOR WINDOWS 7, VISTA (32 AND 64 BIT) & XP (32 AND 64 BIT)
...which was recommended (http://download.autodesk.com/us/aliasstudio/qualch

Uninstalled, removed folders you listed and reinstalled - but the same problem.
