Check out a license?

As far as I know the ability to "check out" a license from the license manager does not exist (yet). Is this true? The reason I ask, in LMTOOLS, I see a message telling me that "This license can be checked out". If the ability DOES exist, can someone point me to instructions on how to do it?

The ability to checkout a license does not exist in
FLEXlm 7. The term 'checkout' shown in lmtools is different. This relates to the
availability of a license for use,  not to the ability to remove it from
the network pool for remote usage.
